Created For Him
Col. 1:15-16 “Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature: For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him”
It’s sad when something that was beautifully created & crafted either loses its capability to function in its original purpose, or because of neglect and mismanagement deteriorates to a state of uselessness. We have seen it with beautiful cars, boats and houses that sit idle, sometimes in a dilapidated state, useless to this world but what about our lives before God? Is it possible that as created beings, who were designed with specific purposes, we can allow the same thing to happen to us?
It is important to be reminded that the hand of the greatest designer the world could ever know has specific purposes for us. The intricacies & complexity of our bodies is an example of His greatness and the more we understand the complexity of who we are the more in awe we will be of the designer. Paul reminds the Colossian believers: "For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him” and the writer of the Hebrews states in speaking about the Lord Jesus: “in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds.”
As believers we do not forget or deny the One that formed us and gives us life but we can be guilty of forgetting the reason we were created and even allow deterioration to set in that would take away from our purpose. It is important to be constantly reminded that we are not our own, that we have been designed, given life, for specific God designed purposes. We are not free lancers or free agents in this world giving ourselves to the highest bidder. The scriptures give us many different motivating reasons to live fully consecrated, God honouring lives. From His great mercy (Rom.12:1) to the cost of our salvation (1 Cor. 6:20; 7:23) but Paul reminds us that there is another reason that Christ has a claim on us and it is because there was one far superior then us who designed and created us for himself.
If you have felt discouraged because of a lack of purpose or have doubted your importance to this world be encouraged that the great designer & architect of your life designed you for himself. If by chance you are beginning to wander from the purposes of Christ be reminded that a Creator specifically designed you for himself. Allow yourself to be drawn to the one who with great design, care and wisdom far from our grasps has created you for him. See his greatness today and we all will be more motivated to align the focus of our lives alongside Christ’s desires because of a truth we can say “all things were created by him, and for him.”
